The team at Stott, Hollowell, Windham & Stancil, PLLC is seeking a SPECIAL PROCEEDINGS PARALEGAL/LEGAL ASSISTANT. This individual must excel in a fast-paced work environment and work well individually and as part of a legal team.
Job Duties:
- Working closely with the attorneys to assist in handling cases from intake through court pleadings, service, and hearings
- Preparing and drafting all paperwork associated with handling a special proceeding, including but not limited to pleadings, summons, petitions, and proposed orders • Completing service on all proper parties in an efficient and timely manner • Maintaining attorney calendars and case files
- Scheduling appointments and court dates
- Serving as a liaison between the client and attorney, conducting client interviews and maintaining regular contact with the client to keep him or her updated
- Preparing and reviewing accountings by collecting all necessary paperwork, communicating with the client and the attorney to ensure that everything is precise and accurate
- Electronically filing documents for court
- Maintaining a clean and inviting work environment
To be considered candidates must have:

- Excellent calendaring and organization skills
- Effective communication skills, particularly when dealing with emotional individuals • Ability to remain professional and courteous during stressful circumstances • Basic computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Characteristics Considered, but not required:
- Paralegal experience, specifically experience with Rule 4 service (pay will be adjusted with relevant experience)
- Customer service background
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours), Monday through Friday, 8:30 am until 5:30 pm
Pay: $15.00 per hour to start, plus benefits. Higher pay will be available to those with relevant paralegal experience, as described above. We provide paid time off and paid holidays,
supplemental benefits, and 401(k), and offer a work-life balance. Pay will be reviewed regularly and increased with experience.

CIVIL LITIGATION PARALEGAL

Job Duties:
- Working closely with the civil litigation attorney to assist in handling cases from intake through trial
- Preparing and drafting motions, pleadings, judgments, statements, documents, and other correspondence (e.g., medical summaries, responsive pleadings, enclosure letters, etc.)
- Maintaining attorney calendars and case files
- Scheduling appointments, court appearances, and mediations
- Serving as a liaison between the client and attorney, conducting client interviews when appropriate
- Preparing trial notebooks and providing assistance in trial settings
- Preparing and reviewing discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests
- Maintaining a clean and inviting work environment
To be considered candidates must have:
- Legal assistant or paralegal experience

- Working closely with the estate administration attorney and estate administration paralegal team to assist in handling cases from intake through inventory in the estate administration
- Preparing initial documents for filing, including but not limited to applications, oaths, and supporting documents
- Running a notice to creditors and responding to any claims entered
- Conducting intake and scheduling appointments for estate administration and estate planning matters
- Maintaining attorney calendars and case files
- Serving as a liaison between the client and attorney
- Answering phones professionally and assessing the purpose of the call
- Taking messages when appropriate and entering the message into an electronic system accurately (Clio)
- Scanning documents into an electronic filing system and categorizing documents accordingly
- Bringing court documents to court for filing when necessary

- Answer phones professionally and evaluate the call to properly direct the caller
- Preparing and drafting closing disclosures, Settlement Statements
- Maintaining attorney calendars and closing files
- Scheduling appointments, closings, and consultations
- Maintain and balance incoming and outgoing closing funds
- Serving as a liaison between the clients, realtors, lenders, title searcher, title insurance companies, and attorney
- Scan documents into an electronic filing system and categorize documents accordingly
- Preparing seller and buyer information sheets, and closing documents
- Reviewing, double check, and supplement title opinions
- Maintaining a clean and inviting work environment
