Jeremy B. Smith

Jeremy B. Smith entered the practice of law in 2006. He originally is from eastern North Carolina and was valedictorian of his high school class. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated his undergraduate program with dual degrees in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude, and U.S. History, Summa Cum Laude. He then proceeded to law school, also at the University of Chapel Hill, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2006.  

Prior to entering the civil litigation practice, Jeremy was North Carolina State Assistant Prosecutor in four counties. Eventually, he left the DA’s office to become a sole practitioner, handing a variety of cases, including death penalty criminal litigation. Throughout his career, Jeremy has tried over 100 cases in the District Courts of North Carolina and over 25 jury trials in multiple counties in the Superior Courts of North Carolina and the Federal Western District of North Carolina. 

Jeremy decided to practice exclusively civil litigation in his solo practice. After a successful solo civil practice, Jeremy decided to join Stott, Hollowell, Windham & Stancil as a part of their civil litigation team. He loves the atmosphere and team-oriented values this firm stresses. 

As a civil litigator, Jeremy has handled varied cases, from complex estate litigation, property litigation, contract disputes and numerous other practice areas. From his diverse background, Jeremy is especially skilled at taking a client’s case and evaluating it from all angles to reach a client-focused solution, whether that is full litigation or negotiating the best possible result short of litigation. He is always focused on what is best for his client. 

Jeremy is licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina and the Federal Western, Central, and Eastern Districts of North Carolina. Jeremy has also practiced in South Carolina Federal Court through a pro hac vice appointment. 

When not practicing law, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach to fish and surf, and hiking in the mountains.
