All of us at Stott, Hollowell, Windham & Stancil, PLLC, mourn the passing of our law partner, James C. Windham, Jr., on April 19, 2021. Beloved by all, Jim Windham was a true gentleman lawyer. A graduate of Furman University and the University of North Carolina School of Law, Jim practiced law with Stott Hollowell Palmer & Windham for 48 years in Gastonia. He excelled in the courtroom as a defense lawyer, then made a smooth transition into the transactional side of law practice and gained many devoted clients with his expertise in the areas of wills, estates, business law, and real property.
In addition to his law practice, Jim was committed to community service and graciously donated his time and wisdom to numerous local organizations, including the Salvation Army, Gaston County Cancer Society, Hall Foundation, Community Foundation of Gaston County, and the Schiele Museum. He was a devout Methodist, and served his Lord in his home church of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church as well as filling leadership roles at the district and national levels, including holding the offices of Chancellor and Conference Attorney for the Western North Carolina United Methodist Church Conference.
We at Stott Hollowell Windham & Stancil will miss Jim’s wisdom, dedication, and good humor. We wish to thank his wife, Phyllis McNabb Windham, and their children for sharing Jim with us all these years. Jim inspired us with his high standards, and we, as a firm, are committed to continuing his legacy of professional service to our community.
